Jefferson Counselor Corner

Welcome to the Jefferson Counselor Corner!

My name is Emily Compton and I joined the Jefferson team early last school year as the School Counselor and Behavior Intervention Specialist.    I have been impressed by the sense of community here at Jefferson both in the involvement of families and the dedication of staff.  I also work with some students just down the road at Fisher Elementary.

My role in the school is to work with students to promote the best social, emotional, and behavioral health possible so that they can learn at their fullest potential. I work as a part of a team of professionals that includes general education classroom teachers, special education staff, Title I/at-risk support staff and the principal.  We work together to meet the individual needs of students and help to connect parents with resources outside of the school when necessary.

I can be reached by email at or by phone during school hours at 313-535-4000 (ext. 1503).

If you have an urgent concern requiring crisis intervention call Wayne County 24-HourCrisis/Information & Referral Line at 313-224-7000 or 1-800-241-4949 or TTY (866) 870-2599. This resource provides emergency telephone referral and counseling services. The Help Line also links residents to comprehensive ongoing mental health care and treatment services available through the Detroit-Wayne County CMH system.
